Except they do it constantly. The US government routinely gaslights the public in order to do many things:
- To change regimes in foreign countries
- To declare war on human consciousness (War on Drugs)
- To subsidize shitty food and tell us it’s good for us (Food pyramid)
- To spy on citizens (Patriot Act) and make clandestine deals with Google/Facebook/Twitter to systematically manipulate popular opinion and deplatform counter-narrative ideas.
etc…
The US government’s explicit law against gaslighting, I’m afraid, is just more gaslighting in disguise.
