Of course, there are many ways to increase wisdom. One important point, especially because of our fragmenting culture is the issue of framing and conversation.

We can bring an expanded frame to bear on warring camps who each contain necessary, but incomplete values and facts. Being able to reconcile two frames within a more complex one that resolves apparent paradoxes (from the viewpoint of less sophisticated frames). Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory helps a lot in this regard.

We must also understand the ecology of human values (pending work of mine).

All values are useful and have their place. We need to stop picking our favorite few (multiculturalism/diversity/inclusion) or (duty/responsibility/family/tradition) and going to war against other value sets. All of them have their merits.

We need a healthy value ecology. This will be my next essay. I look forward to continued work in this space.
