Worse still, because our culture is far thinner than preliterate cultures of old. We’ve run out of social capital, having outsourced nearly everything to the financial realm. This makes economic collapses far more socially destructive than, say, in the late 1920’s.

We pay nannies to take care of our kids because both parents must now work. as a consequence, we don’t know our own neighbors. We don’t grow our own food, make our own clothing or furniture, and soon we wont even own anything. A world of lost connections, constant work, and a complete lack of coherence.
